5 Things About Me
Eherm eherm… testing, testing… okay, this blog is good to go (well half!).
And what better way to jump-start this new domain than to talk about my favorite topic… MYSELF! Mwahahahahahahahahahahaha! And it’s not just something about me… it’s five things about me… count them… one, two, three four five! Mwahahahahahahahaha… (lightning kapow! Like The Count in Sesame Street). So with this tag from the lovely Miss Niceheart meant to torture and/or put to sleep my very kind readers, here they are… five things about me.
- I was a transferee when I went to Maryknoll High School during my freshman year. I didn’t know how to speak in English at that time yet (really!). I mean for school, my English was fine, but not for ordinary conversation because we spoke in Tagalog at home. Unfortunately for me, all my classmates couldn’t speak in Tagalog. I had a classmate who told me that the first Tagalog word she learned (from her maid, who else?) was dedbol. As in when you lose in jackstones, you say “Ay dedbol! or “Na-dedbol na!” So go figure – is it “dedbol” or “dead ball?” Is it really Tagalog or was my classmate’s first Tagalog word was actually two English words? The same classmate told me that she didn’t have a car because the driver “brought the car to the talyer… kung ano mang probinsiya yon.” Haaay… it’s difficult to try to be sosyal when sosyal is so… haaaay!
Anyway, I didn’t care how sosyal they were, I spoke to them in Tagalog. After four years of high school in Maryknoll, I was proud not only because my English improved but also because my friends also learned to speak in Tagalog because of me. - If Pining doesn’t know the meaning of BTW, I don’t know what IMHO stands for. In connection to this, it took me quite some time before I figured out LOL. At first, I thought people who used it were rude because I thought it was short for ulol.
- I’m the girl in the comfortable shoes. I don’t know how to put on make-up and heels and pointy shoes bully me. My virgin toenails have never been pedicured. Yes, what you’re thinking is right… I’m a big manang.
- Another Maryknoll story… I wasn’t very popular with boys in high school. No one called me on the phone (texting wasn’t invented yet) and I didn’t get roses during Valentine’s Day and all that chorva. During school fairs, I was the only girl who never got her chance at the handcuff or the wedding booths. On my senior year, I finally got handcuffed to a boy during the fair. So we got to talking and got along really well because we found out that we knew the same people. And why shouldn’t we? After more chit-chat, we discovered… we’re second cousins!
- I’ve always wondered how these memes get started so I traced the origin of this one. It was Niceheart who tagged me. She, in turn, was tagged by Karen who was tagged by Alfa who was tagged by Kamrul — who is the root, the creator, the grand originator of this meme. I don’t know what this has to do with me, except that I now know that I’m dreadfully OC, but I just wanted to list it down anyway.
I am not tagging anyone but do answer the following questions/challenges related to the above:
- In what language do you speak? In what language do you write? In what language do you think? In what language do you curse?
- What is the meaning of the following acronyms?
UNESCO
PAG-ASA
HTML
CSS
JAPAN
ITALY
TCCIC - What shoes do you wear to work and what shoes do you wear at home and what’s the difference between them? Explain in your own words. Snglguy is exempted from this one because we’ve already seen photos of his 12-year old shoes.
- What did you look like when you were in high school? Post a picture of yourself (High school students are exempted but high school principals are not).
- Revenge is sweet. Next time you get tagged, trace the root of the meme and tag that blogger on your next twenty memes. Mwahahahahahahahahaha!
- Thinking Like Crazy
- A Lesson on Names, a Meme, and Nanowrimo
- One Word Meme
- weird, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird

Hi,
Where should we post our answers?
Fun questions you’ve got.
Really Toe, you want us to answer what TCCIC, ITALY and JAPAN means? rofl
Wow! May pagka-OC ka nga.
I’ve only traced the origin of a meme up to the 2nd degree. It also took me a long time to figure out that IMHO means in my humble opinion.
First time I’ve seen TCCIC. Please tell me what it means.
Okay, I’m gonna be brave here and give you a link to my high school picture. But before you laugh, show us yours too.
http://cpgarciaclass82.homestead.com/Villamiel.html
PLease let me know what IMHO means. I dont know either…thanks!
Huy bagong bahay! Great to see you finally have your own home. And interesting trivia on you there
This is so much fun! I finally answered memes I owed, including yours!
Okay, you’ve got to get a spa pedicure one of these days. But tell them to cut your nails straight across. I hate it when they trim on the side..promotes ingrown toenails! Hehehe.
Great new meme, IMHO (In my humble opinion).
Well, look at you now .. Ms. Pop of Blogsville! Eat your heart out, Toe’s HS classmates. Pwedeng magyabang? — I know JAPAN and ITALY. Thanks to all those secret reading of forbidden literature — what else but my doters’ letters/diaries/retreat notes. Pinagyabang pa ano?
kwela mo talaga Toe.
UNESCO
PAG-ASA,HTML,CSS- pero alam ko yun TCCIC (take care coz i care) and ITALY (i trust and love you). Gamit ko ata yan nung highschool. Nalimutan ko na yun JAPAN.
O sige, I’ll try to post a picture from high school.
Mapa-friendly letter man,o composition writing, or loveletter (eherms) , even IOU notes (hehe). Pero clueless ako sa meaning ng acronyms na JAPAN, ITALY,even IHMO ( i know LMAO,tho’)
Anyway, I have been visiting your site a lot lately and this is another enjoyable read!
hehe kakatawa naman tong post mo…anyway, pareho tayo sa #3 hehehe…saka akala ko rin noon minura ako nung first time ko na-encounter yung “lol” (1995)
btw, imho = in my humble opinion
LOL!
1. English and Tagalog on the first 3 questions but i use arabic words when i curse… hahaha.
3. Office – depends on my attire, moods and weather
Home – slip-on.
DLTBBBY – G’Nite!
I don’t know the meaning on some of those acronyms, they all sound greek to me. Hehehe
You really DON”T wanna see my HS picture, believe me…
As for my everyday language, medyo halo halo. It’s a mix of English, Tagalog and Hokkien.
Although I think mostly in English…
Alfa, hehe… you could either put a comment here or trackback from your blog. Instead of spreading memes, I want to spread kalokohan and silliness in the blogosphere.
Prab, of course golf course!
Oh BTW, that’s it… I was trying to remember that… I don’t know what ROFL is either.
Niceheart, I don’t have my high school pictures right now. But when I go home in March, hindi lang high school pictures ang ipo-post ko.
Will check out your link and see if bravery is indeed necessary.
Mabelle, in my my humble opinion, our opinions are never humble that’s why we don’t know IMHO.
Hi Ferdz! Yes, nakakawindang pala maglipat.
Pinayhekmi, oo nga it’s about time to devirginize my toenails.
Annamanila, mwahahahahaha!
Yeah I remember one of your daughters writing a note to you in her diary that she knows your reading it and told you to enjoy.
Leah, hey exciting makita yung high school picture mo.
Sana mapakita talaga yung fashion of the decade… hehe! O sige just don’t forget to Just Always Pray At Night!
Gina, my kindred spirit! I love writing too! Sabat away.
So what happened to your penpal?
Hey… IOU notes… parang maganda mag-blog ng fictitious IOU notes. Thanks for visiting and now making your presence known.
Cyberpunk, I am quite relieved that you don’t like wearing heels too… joke joke!
Diba nga sa umpisa, nakakabastos yung lol?
LOL!
Achaka basta wag mo pagbaligtarin yung pang-office achaka pang-bahay… hehehe! Hey, what’s DLTBBBY?
Snglguy, right… we bloggers don’t know HTML and CSS. But seriously, I don’t.
One more acronym we always use and I don’t know the meaning of… HTTP. Oh, so you can speak Hokkien? Diba masarap yon? LOL! Oh, but I do want to see your high school picture! Post mo naman sa blog mo!

Daphne, pareho tayo sa number 1… kc all my curse words sound french.. hehehe!
I won’t tell you what JAPAN, ITALY, and TCCIC stand for… they’re all seventies and eighties kabaduyan.
Oh do scan your pictures… I wanna see.
1. I speak Tagalog (Taglish)with my friends, Hokkien with my parents, English with guests & Mandarin with my boss. I write almost everything in English. “Curses” as the villains of early Japanese animes would utter (shades of Voltes V, Dymos, Bioman, Shaider, etc).

3. I wear sensible black loafers to office and why would I wear shoes at home? di ba tsinelas lang?
4. High School image is way different from what I look right now. I just got fat.
Parang slambook ang dating or pang-autograph na tanong… Nakaka-miss.
Your blog has been inspiring & interesting to read at although I don’t comment much.

1. We speak at home in Tagalog, but we understand a bit of Ilonggo because of my father. At school with friends it’s usually in Taglish kasi minsan nakakalimutan namin sa tagalog eh! Tagalog is actually a difficult language too, but because we mix spanish & english words it’s easier to communicate.

Hello Toe! Great new blog, or new layout! My ex-gf went to Maryknoll or Miriam from gradeschool to College… She taught me a lot of Tagalog though.

I think in tagalog and english depende kung ano siguro iniisip. Sa work naman, I will wear anything but cowboy boots. I hate boots.
hi, miss toe. congratulations on your new domain. natawa ako sa JAPAN, ITALY, at TCCIC. brings back some memories
Kalog ka rin pala ano, Toe. Hehe. I enjoyed reading this entry. Nakakaaliw. Anyway, to answer your first question on languages, I speak in three languages, English, Filipino and Visayan depending on who I talk to. I write mostly in English but my English is a bit formal as I learned it from books and not from conversations with rich, sosyal people. But I think in Visayan (I think) and I curse in any language but my favorite phrase is “Tang Inis Naman, Oo.” Not much sense but I like the lilting. Hehe.
All those slangs really confuses and when I was young, i wouldn’t know how to use them.
Great site and design by the way.
#2 is funny. I took me a while to know what LOL is
When I knew it, I finally deciphered what LFMAO means
Interesting that you asked – in what language do we think ? I’m not sure if it matters until someone told me that if you want to speak French fluently, you must think in French
Angelo, just shows how old I am. It was still Maryknoll when I went there.
Funny that you’re the only one who got UNESCO. I put it there because I assumed that it’s something everyone knows. Your PAG-ASA… don’t know your version. Hahaha… funny too most bloggers don’t know what’s HTML and CSS… well, neither do I.
ITALY and JAPAN… the meanings are so baduy, so just find out for yourself in the comments.
Mwahahahahaha on your acronyms!
Nakakashock siguro pagka-madinig. I remember my parents told us that my eldest sister’s first word is putris… well, that stopped my Dad from cursing.
Karen, yeah… I remember I used to write letters to my friends in gradeschool in those cute Hello Kitty statio and then I’d end my letters with TCCIC.
Abaniko… parang Parokya ni Edgar yung mura mo ah.
Major Tom, thanks.
BW, hey, I don’t know what LFMAO means.
wow congrats on your new domain. After all it’s been a year already! Keep it up, Toe.
Hey, I went to Maryknoll in grade school! It was there that I started speaking Tagalog more often, actually. I had heard about the handcuffs at the high school fairs.
PS my hubby got me a pedicure for Christmas. But I never went to the salon to use it… I’ve never gotten one either.
Thanks Noemi. It’s slow but I’m learning.
Cai, oh a fellow Maryknoll with virgin toes who went there when it was still Maryknoll.
Where did you go for high school?
my girls are studying at miriam college – oh, toe! you seem to be entirely different from any miriam-er i know. and the nail treats, and spa, ohhhh! they’re so wonderful, really! but if i had your virgin toes, i will still be delighted, because once you start with the nail treats and spas, there is no stopping. then, i won’t be addicted. hurray to your virgin toes!
Hi Toe,
I went to Maryknoll until Grade 4. They had just changed the name to Miriam College when I left. After Grade 4, I was in the United States.
Sexy Mom, good for your girls! IMHO… it’s one of the best girls’ schools around. Don’t we get one of the highest passing rates in the UPCAT?
Hahaha… yup! Hurrah for my virgin toes.
I do get myself a foot massage here in Cambodia once in a while.
Cai, OMG! You’re a baby. I think I was in college or after college when they changed the name.
