The Royal Palace by Night
The Royal Palace was all lit up when we drove by last Saturday night. This only means that there is a royal function going on within its walls.
This is the street of the front of the Royal Palace.
This is the front gate.
This is the Golden Pavilion. I’ll never tire of looking at this beautiful site.

His Majesty King-Father Norodom Sihanouk had a special film showing for ambassadors of movies he produced and directed while he was in Pyongyang. I’m quite happy just to look at the palace from the outside.

wow! ako nakabinyag sa Royal Palace
kitam gising na gising na ko
…….. danda danda ……
Uy Melai!
wow, beautiful!
It looks magnificent, Toe. Have you ever been inside?
Wow Toe! What a beautiful place. I’m sure you’re really enjoying there in Cambodia with all those beautiful sites.
It is a masterpeice of architecture, none the less. It houses the famous Silver Pagoda and its recently restored 600-metre external wall is a colorful mural depicting scenes from the Reamker, the Khmer version of the Ramayana.
Jane… it is beautiful especially when lit up. During ordinary days, it’s quite dark. The inside is also beautiful.
Niceheart, parts of the Royal Palace is open to the public for viewing daily. As Rey said, you can see the Silver Pagoda (so called because the floor is entirely made of silver), the beautiful gardens, and other sculptures and buildings inside. I often bring family who come here there.
When our ambassador presented her credentials to the king, they closed the place and we were the only ones there at the Throne Room. Galing! It’s just like in a period movie.
When we didn’t have an ambassador yet, we got invited three times to the private area (where paying visitors are not allowed). We got to attend the coronation ball, a film-showing by the king-father, and the inauguration of the museum of the king-father’s gifts. Honey got to attend the coronation of King Sihamoni in 2004.
Sige Tin, when you come here, ipapabukas ko yung ilaw para sayo.
But seriously, do tell me when you do come here.
Wow Rey, you do know famous architectural wonders in Cambodia. I didn’t even know what that mural was before I read your comment.
What? And you weren’t invited to the Royal function? Bakeeeet??? LOL!
Sngl… my boss was invited.
When we didn’t have a boss, kami dati yung naiimbita.
Postcard perfect pictures. Nice shots!
Thanks Daphne.
I took them while inside the car as we were driving by.
WOW! ur in Cambodia? gosh. It’s still in my wish list. gusto ko maka punta sa seam riep!
the temples look so elegant. kelan kaya ako maka punta jan? ahehe
Thanks for visiting my blog Eric. Definitely, the temples of Angkor is a must-see for everyone. Siem Reap is about a three-hour drive away from Phnom Penh where we live but both are worth going to.
Truly a majestic site, no wonder despite its turmoils, tourists continue to flock Cambodia. I would too, if I could and see Angkor Wat at closer range…
