RomyNenitaTogetherForever at the Pasig Fun Run
A one year old baby boy and, by a twist of fate, his two year old (yes two!) aunt!

a 76-year old man and a 75-year old woman who just had a mastectomy a few weeks ago…

These aren’t exactly the people you want in your team when you’re in a 5-K race. But hey, during the Run for Pasig Race on Saturday, November 8… these people were MY team – the Mendoza Family or the RomyNenitaTogetherForever team. It goes without saying – Romy is my father, but better known as Dad or Super Dad in my blog; and Nenita is my mother, who goes by the name of Mommy in my blog.
But then, my parents were the original athletes in the family… and their kids (with the exception of one klutz whose name I will not reveal here) all take after them.
Small Evil Big Brother and his wife (and I say evil with much affection) just finished a full marathon in Subic and their kids are champion swimmers.

Big Evil Big Brother’s family (again, I say evil with much affection) are varsity players and giants (half my age and twice my height).

Sixter and her family are surfers, sailors divers, and are basically into wild, dangerous, Survivor-type pursuits (I’m pretty sure that they take showers though – unlike those Survivor contestants).

Oh, and by the way, it was Sixter’s bright idea to get us off of our warm beds on a Sunday, (what better way to torment siblings?) to run for Pasig and increase awareness for the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. I only said yes because I was the impression that Sixter would treat us to Spiral for breakfast after the race.
The Pasig Fun Run had 3k, 5k, 10k, and the full 42-k marathon categories. The RomyNenitaTogetherForever Team joined the 5k.
And off we go! Heeeelp! Stampede!!!!

Go borloloys go!

Yes, even the borloloys get a number.

Hey… we just started… how come these fellows are on their way back?

The Kenyan is already on the last leg of the full 42-k marathon. I wonder how much he weighs?

But of course, we were more into partying than actually running.

After a lot of damage to my athletic ego (the borloloys zoomed past my klutzy legs), we finally reached the finish line.

But wait a minute! Wait a minute! How’d they get there before us???

Of course, the teen-agers were being angsty teen-agers. We actually arrived ahead of them as they were taking their own sweet time (I bet gossiping about the opposite sex
) They were actually stopping at the red lights.
And Little Misua was getting cranky… maybe because she didn’t get her best 5k time?

Yahoo! We did it! Hurrah for the RomyNenitaTogetherForever and ever and ever and ever.

And the most awaited part of the morning – tocilog at Chow King (nope… no Spiral this time).
the end

That’s cool. And all for a good cause.
It would be great to see the Pasig River fully rehabilitated one day.
so it’s true–the family that runs together, eats together!:p
i’ve always wanted to participate in fun runs/marathons, problem is, i can’t wake up at the break of dawn. :p wonderful shots, by the way…Little Misua needs her beauty sleep.
wow kudos to your entire family for being so athletic! Yes that includes you, Toe hehe
Inggit ako! Wish I could martial my kids into something like that too. Or maybe, wish they could martial me and Ben into joining them, since we’re the ones with the bad knees. Congratulations to the whole family!
Ping-i, the ironic thing was that the participants were littering all over the place.
luna miranda, hahaha… yeah… we turned Chow King upside-down! It also took a lot from me to wake up that early. We were all so sleepy while eating breakfast.
Daphne, who me?
Thanks Tita Della.
Maybe we could martial all the amigas into joining next time.
A very sporty family !
Congrats
Sidney, yes… don’t know why I’m in it.
that’s one family bonding na dapat regular nyo nang gagawin (yung pagtakbo ha, hindi yung chowking or spiral hehe)
I always wanted to participate on some marathons, but I just don’t have the time. Now, I training alot so I can participate the 7 mountains tour next year in our city.
zherwin, okay lang… basta sa susunod sa Spiral na.
Oh, 7 mountains… that sounds really tough!
Good luck Charles Ravndal! I’m sure you can do it!
And what was your hubby doing at the time? carrying you all the way to the finish line? Hehe joke…
Sounds like you all had a blast!
Hey, what happened to that last group photo?
Snglguy, so I suppose you’ll believe it if I told you that I actually asked him?
He said no, of course.
Vera, strange having a blast at 6:30 in the morning.
Yeah… we got visited by ghosts.
Nice family! I wonder why you never show a picture of yourself? Hehe.
this is really a very nice post. i bet you were more excited with “what’s-for-breakfast” than finishing the run. miss you mare, kelangan magkita na talaga tayo.
Hi Toe,
I really enjoy reading your blogs but the pictures are not appearing on my screen.
I’m here again visiting your blog.
I would be taking the qualifying test on 3/28. Well that’s off the topic
(but pls. pray for me)
I was also there and joined the same race (5K). that was my first (fun) run.
It was exciting to see the 20K crowd having one goal and helping Ilog Pasig.
It was really fun experience and I’m sure you enjoyed too..
Regards! by theway, is it serious? the last picture was really strange (creepy?)…
