My Hua Hin Diary (Day 3)

Published by Toe at 10:06 am under Foreign Service, Travel, Work

Continued from Day 1, Day 2

Day 3, Sunday.

Instead of going to the gym like yesterday morning, I decided to hit the beach. Hey, although my purpose for going to Hua Hin was to attend a bloody meeting, I WAS at a beach resort.  There’s a bloody 5 miles of beach in this resort.  I had to go to the beach. So I woke up with the sun again and headed for the coast.

I was also able to walk around the Marriott grounds a bit…

…until it was time for breakfast at this restaurant by the pool.

Then, all thoughts of beaches and holidays were forgotten because it was Plenary Meeting time… and time for meeting meeting meeting… at least until break time.  Then,  we had our lunch by the beach.  Caucasians of all shapes and sizes and levels of sagging breasts and flab surrounded us in various forms of almost-nudity reminded us that as most of the people in the Marriott were on holiday, we were hopeless pathetic dorks in boring suits debating in senseless meetings.

Have you noticed that in the beach resorts in Asia, when the sun is bright and high up there, the white people come out to the beaches to fry their skins?  Then when the sun comes down, out come the Asians in sarongs and various forms of cover.

Then the meetings went on and on and on and on and on….

To be continued….

i see Pinoys walking at the beach under the hot sun–naka camisa chino at naka-jogging pants (hehe).

finally, you were able to walk at the beach! i hope you packed a bathing suit.:p

that pool is so tempting. buti hindi ka tumalon dun with your boring suit and all. :) pero buti naka-beach ka na rin yahoo! :D

i know someone who wore a long-sleeved shirt and jogging pants when we went to the beach to go kayaking. what made it funnier was that she even wore socks AND gloves to protect her feet and hands. exagg pero totoo :D kulang na lang magsuot din siya ng ski mask at shades para talagang well-protected! lolz

Beaches! Although if it were the mountaintops, I would be more thrilled. Right now, however, my last beach experience was back in 2001, so it’s been a while.

Wow that’s a lovely place to relax and of course to be with someone special as well.

luna miranda, ganyan talaga kultura natin. :) In Cambodia, they all wear pajamas to the beach. :)

Carlotta, if I were a bit thinner, I would have donned on my bathing suit. :) Hehe… we Filipinos, besides being hopeless prudes… we’re scared of the sun. :)

Linguist-in-Waiting, malayo ka nga sa beach jan sa Buffalo. Hmmm… I don’t remember anyone hosting a meeting in a province in the mountaintops… maybe a little hilly… in Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar.

Zherwin, mahirap nga mabasa sa beach. :)

Charles Ravndal, yes… it really irks me that I’m there to work and not to relax and that I’m with people who are not my loved ones.

It really shows that you are thinking about the beach… In this post alone, you mentioned the word ‘beach’ nine times….. ha ha ha

    Enjoy…

really nice resort :) Say i’m about 7 months far from getting that kind of weather here ;)

Caucasians love to bask in the sun. Asians hide from the sun. Even at Disneyworld in summer, when everybody is basking in the sun almost stripping down to their undies, you see people with long pants and long sleeve T shirts LOL… and everyone of them – without exception – are Asians, my wife included hehe

bw, funny isn’t it how those people whose skin are rich in melatonin and are thus more protected from skin cancer are those who are afraid of the sun. :) You’ll know who the Filipinos are when abroad… they’re the ones using umbrellas when the sky is sunny. :)
