Bali and Phuket for Our Wedding Anniversary?

Published by Toe at 9:10 pm under Foreign Service, Married Life, Travel, Work

Bali and Phuket!  Two of the most beautiful and romantic and  world-famous resorts in the world.  And I got to go to both places in the same month less than a week apart.  Lucky me?  Well, if Honey were with me and we were honeymooning and chilling out in the beach and eating al fresco in seafood restaurants and walking hand in hand as we stroll along all the fantastic shopping streets… well, that would have been perfect.

Unfortunately, I was in both places for long exhausting stressful meetings and meetings and meetings!  And the worst part?  It was our anniversary.

So I was in Bali last week.  Then I went back home to Manila and after a few days, off I went to Phuket.  After a few days in Phuket, Honey went there too for meetings.  So lucky?  Not exactly… he was staying in a different hotel… more than an hour away from mine… if you include the horrendous security checks.  (I was staying at the Marriott Phuket at a time when the Marriott Jakarta got bombed). Shucks, it would have been nice if we could have at least had a date on Patong Beach… we actually went there in 2004 (a year before the tsunami) for our second anniversary.

So we managed a grand total one lunch and one dinner together (both hurried).  And the next day, I had to go back home to Manila.  And Honey had to stay in Phuket for a few more days. So I’m now home alone… and getting kind of sick because of exhaustion (not swine flu ha).  Haaaay!

How ironic.  In Bali and Phuket during our wedding anniversary yet I hardly got to see Honey in the last two weeks.

Pahamak na work, no? Hehe. Which is better for you: Bali or Phuket?

Ouch. I suppose it is hard for both to be working and have conflicting schedules. Well, I am sure that there are up times ahead for the down times right now.

Ok. Now, I believe you are really busy. :-)

Awww shucks! Well you can always make up for it here in Manila for a post wedding anniversary date. But yes I know what’s Manila compared to fascinating Bali and enchanting Phuket. hehe :D

Yun yung nakakaasar dun ano? That you were both there, in a lovely and romantic beach, but couldn’t really spend time together. Hay. Plan a real vacation! :)

Hmm, haven’t been to Bali yet. Hamo, pag nakahanap ako ng maloloko, este… mapapangasawa pala, diyan ako mag ho-honeymoon, wahahahaha. :-D

It’s good that you are both in the same line of work. So it’s easy to understand each others situation. Work that entails a lot of travel puts a great strain on a relationship – specially if you are married.

Two loves in the same place, just an hour away from each other. That’s a good plot for a romantic movie, Toe. Hanap tayo ng magaling na DH, as in Head Director. :)

Abaniko, Phuket… but only because the Marriott there was the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in in my whole life. I loved my room so much I wanted to bring it home. :)

Linguist-in-Waiting, so far… it gets worse… we’ll hardly see each other in August… and almost no weekends together. :(

  10. Toeon 25 Jul 2009 at 11:19 am

Pandora, I’m so happy that one trip this week got canceled. :)

  11. Toeon 25 Jul 2009 at 11:21 am

Daphne, we wouldn’t mind at all… just one lazy entire week at home. :)

  12. Toeon 25 Jul 2009 at 11:22 am

Vera, haha… our bosses go crazy when we threaten them with filing long leaves. :)

Snglguy, hahaha… malabo pala Bali trip mo…. peace! :)

  14. Toeon 25 Jul 2009 at 11:24 am

MK, that’s so true… about understanding each other because of the same line of work.

Dapat yung story line ng movie… kumpleto with having no available transportation. :)

Hi Toe. Feels like a good storyline for a Hollywood heartwarming love story, aka Sleepless in Seattle…But despite that you didn’t meet on your anniversary, it becomes memorable and momentous this way.

Congratulations then on your wedding anniversary and may you have more fruitful married blissfulness ahead.

Tama si Major Tom, parang sa pelikula. At any rate, meron namang virtual world (the internet) to celebrate together. All you need is time but (crazy me), isn’t that the main thing here? ha ha ha.

    Happy wedding anniversary.

Grabe, Toe. Kakabaliw naman pala ang sched mo. Pwede ba kaming sumingit? Dinner naman tayo nila Rayts minsan, pag free ka na. :-)

Your work is hectic, but being able to travel to fantastic locale more than makes up for it, right?

    Inggit naman ako.

Thanks Major Tom! :) Haha… memorable nga… quite a story about our stint in the Home Office. :)

myepinoy, haha… once nga we were chatting and he was in their secretariat room and he said he had to go because his bosses were looking over his shoulder. :)

  21. Toeon 28 Jul 2009 at 8:33 am

Oki, oo naman… going to London on Saturday… when I come back, I’ll email Rayts. ;)

  22. Toeon 28 Jul 2009 at 8:35 am

Ewok, yes, traveling is quite interesting… but somehow, I get the feeling that all I see are airports and immigration counters. :) And I’m getting sick with the regular change of pressure in my body. But still, you’re right… I probably wouldn’t give it up. :)

  23. bingon 29 Jul 2009 at 4:20 pm

On another note, your furniture is still advertised for sale for several months now. Is it still for sale? Not that I can buy that since I’m thousands of miles away…

Hi Brix. There are indeed loads of tourists in Bali and Phuket. But both places are so big, plenty of beaches, urban town centers, etc., that it’s ok. :)

  36. Toeon 02 Oct 2009 at 11:15 pm

Mertoy, ang tagal na nga natin hindi nagkikita. :) I’ll be out of the country most of October but I hope I could invite you to our house soon. :)

  37. Toeon 02 Oct 2009 at 11:24 pm

Thanks Curacha. :) Bali and Phuket are perfect for holidays… not work. :)
