Centrepoint Petchburi 15
Note: this was written on 25 February 2008 from our room on the 23rd floor of the Centrepoint Petchburi 15, Bangkok, Thailand, overlooking this view.
It was much trepidation when I ripped off two breakfast coupons today. There were two more left after this and it means only one thing… we’re about to end our six-day holiday and will go home tomorrow. I will miss this… waking up not by the shrill sound of the annoying alarm clock but only when my eyes are ready to open and my body is well-rested and ready to get up. And that means waking up just right in time before the breakfast buffet by the swimming pool closes… sausages, bacon, fried noodles, fried rice, pancakes, fruits, dimsum, noodle soup, omelet with everything on it, all kinds of bread with all kinds of jam. And the best part is the coffee… they don’t just have pots of brewed coffee waiting to be poured by the waiters. They actually have three espresso machines all over the place to ensure that your coffee is really fresh and strong. Aaaaah!
I guess it’s obvious from my most recent posts… breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.
Oh, I am so going to miss this place which we have called home… a 46 square meter studio in the Centrepoint Petchburi 15. It’s not actually a hotel… it’s a serviced apartment. Centrepoint is a chain of high-end serviced apartments in Bangkok but they also rent it out not only for long-term tenants but also for short-staying tourists. So our unit, instead of being called de luxe or superior the way they call rooms in a hotel, is called a studio apartment.
We get all the services of a hotel… daily housekeeping, laundry, room service, etc., as well as the comforts of home… a kitchen with a microwave oven, a dining table, a living room, a DVD player, etc..
And the staff are all friendly and smiling and helpful and fluent in English. I do have to admit though that the receptionist at check-in was a bit antipatika. She told us when we checked in at 11:30, “I have a room available now, but next time don’t come in before 12 because that’s the check-in time.”
I thought it was rude considering we were perfectly fine with waiting half an hour to check-in. But we just laughed it off thinking that it must be a language thing. “Wala nanamang susunod kc ubos na kwarta namin,” I just said smiling at her widely knowing that she doesn’t understand me.
Another problem was that they asked us to give a five thousand baht deposit when we have already fully paid for a five-night stay. I thought that it didn’t make sense. Oh well… those little problems were more than compensated for the excellent facilities and services of the place.
I just totally, totally love our room… the softness/hardness of the bed was just right, the room temperature… everything was perfect. And the icing on top of the cake… free Internet service inside the room.
I booked everything through the Internet which I realize is faster cheaper than our corporate rate. And another thing I realized while researching for a hotel… Thailand is overflowing with tourists. We had to change dates several times because Centrepoint Petchburi 15 and the only other hotel that met both our standards and our budget, Century Park Hotel, are always full. You have to understand though that we have a 5-star standard but only have a 3-star budget.
With its perfect location… near Pratunam, Platinum Plaza, Cental World Plaza, and Siam Paragon, Centrepoint Petchburi 15 is just perfect. Here are some photos of our hotel.
And that’s it. Vacation is now over and I have to wake up to the alarm clock again, make our breakfast, wash dishes, oh and yeah… go back to work. BTW, we booked our hotel through this website.

Great pictures of the service apartment!
I actually get a high from taking pictures of hotels, inns, resorts we visit, the moment we step in and after the bell boy has left the room breathless from carrying our luggages into the room.
It has to be pristine clean and without any luggages lurking in the background. My sister always get irked with my strange habit. he he he
Ang ganda nga ng room! Well, six-day vacation ain’t bad. Recharged na recharged ka na niyan, o bitin pa? hehehe.
That’s a nice room!! 5-star nga ang dating eh. Nanood ka pa ng Martha Stewart
I just checked the rates..ok na din.
Ay naku, I know the feeling. Whenever a vacation is nearing its end it can really make you feel a bit low. At least you were able to enjoy naman
Wow! The place does look very nice. Homey, and not very expensive. Gotta try that studio thingy next time I’m in Thailand.
sometimes, i like service apartments as we can cook if we want to. it’s also good if there are plenty of you.
it looks beautiful. will check that place out. thanks for sharing.
your observation is so right. it’s teeming with tourists. Sometimes you’ll wonder if you’re in another country and not Thailand. a lot of Aussies there!
I always use budget accomodations when traveling. One was Best WEstern and the other was an apartelle. hehe. Using the currency converter on their website, their studio rates are actually pretty good.
Are you heading straight to work? You surely need a day or two to acclimatise to “life” after such a break
that’s a very nice serviced apartment
grabe ano? i know that feeling pag malapit nang matapos ang bakasyon, parang ang masasabi mo nalang ay “hayyyy…”
Daphne, yeah… hahaha… I did that too… photo-op muna bago huminga.
Rhodora, recharged na… but still dreaming of another vacation.
Snglguy, yes… I researched that well.. checked the reviews and all… well-recommended. And since we’ve tried it, I can assure you that it’s great and worth your money. I just added the link to the website where we booked.
Ipanema, and to think that the peak season is almost over… yet until now, all hotels are fully-booked… even here in Cambodia. It’s crazy!
Wil, I bet that this hotel would be worth double in the States or in Europe.
Auee, yes… we need a vacation from our vacation.
We’re okay though… last Monday was another holiday.. International Women’s Day.
Carlotta, yeah… and the dread of going back to work.
“we have a 5-star standard but only have a 3-star budget” … that is the attitude to get the best bargains!
Sounds good, looks good!
Wow!! Affordable nga and I like the amenities, seriously! hehehe
Sana maka punta na ako ng Thailand next year with my sister. If that happens, I’ll surely get back to your Thailand series
yan ang sulit na sulit! enjoy na nakatipid pa.
the feeling of a vacation coming to an end is like after having a very nice sunday lunch/dinner and then realized, ay! monday na naman pala bukas!
by the way, was that martha stewart on tv?
Sidney, hahaha… yeah… we have expensive tastes but no money to complement it… but somehow we manage to wing it by really researching well to find good bargains.
That was a quite good deal, Toe!
About that receptionist, it’s sad na medyo nawawala na ang politeness and courtesy that used to be second nature to Thais. It’s most prevalent in areas where tourists frequent. I don’t know but they must have picked up that attitude from sometimes hard-to-please foreigners, natuto na rin silang maging antipatika. Buti naman hindi kami ‘yon, kasi kami laging very early nagche-check in.
Verns, okay… but there’s more to Thailand than just shopping and eating ha. And then there are also the outdoor markets which we don’t go to.
Anyway, you and your sister will have a blast in Thailand.
Zherwin, yes… that was Martha Stewart. Siempre, si Honey ang nanonood.
Yeah… that’s why I hate Sundays… except kung walang pasok sa Monday.
I stayed in this hotel twice and I loved it! Great location, free internet, good (but not exciting) breakfast. Tatawid ka lang, Platinum Mall na, plus Big C and Pratunam are just around the corner. Not the typical tourist hotel, but really great value!
Medyo nakakaloka lang ang mga bading sa front desk, hahaha.
IA, yeah… I found a lot of them to be antipatika in Platinum… cguro nainis na sa mga Pinoy na grabe tumawad.
But we feel naman that the receptionist didn’t mean to be rude… probably just a language thing. It’s the same here in Cambodia.
Hi csp! Yes… definitely great value. We were very comfortable there and it’s just walking distance to the places where we want to go.
Hi!
Hi Chaecer, no, it’s quite difficult to talk to them in Thailand because of the language barrier. But I assume it’s to guarantee payment for things you have to pay for like room service, laundry, etc.. What happened was we gave our credit card number and they just have authorization to withdraw up to 5K baht from it. When we checked out naman, they canceled that authorization, so no problem. We also received our credit card statement and there was nothing charged to the hotel. It’s probably an industry practice anyway so don’t worry about it.
oh cool. cge ganun nalang din gawin namin. Thanks!!
Sure Chaecer. Good luck and have a great time in Bangkok!
