Toe and Honey’s Noche Buena
Another Christmas family picture without me and Honey
:
Still, we did our best even if it were just the two of us. On Christmas Eve, we lit up the Christmas tree (we never turned it on before Christmas… waste of electricity
), played Christmas music, brought out the nice table settings, and of course, Honey cooked up an elegant romantic Christmas Noche Buena. We tried to be sosyal and high-brow and even made menu cards:
For our appetizers, we had caviar with hard-boiled eggs and goat cheese salad, cream of broccoli soup, and white wine:
We wanted to continue the snootiness by having red wine with our main meal. But we were both tipsy by that time and succumbed to the lures of Diet Coke which we drank with wild mushroom risotto and grilled hungarian sausages:
I had to make a contribution to our meal as I am the woman in this relationship, right? So I made attempted to make chocolate mousse. Sadly, I put too much chocolate and it was horribly bitter. It could have its uses though as a potent laxative. One bite was all we could muster.
Despite the choco-tragedy, the Christmas spirit reigned in our home (we opened a grand total of three gifts this time… an improvement by one gift from five years ago
). After all, it’s being together that counts, right?
I wish that all of you had a wonderful time with your loved ones this holiday season. Merry Christmas everyone!
