Team Philippines Wins International Bowling Tournament
Okay, okay… so in reality, it wasn’t really as grand as the title of this entry suggests. It was really just a friendly competition between amateurs, and I daresay, beginners even. It was organized as a pseudo-networking, pseudo-sporty event, and all-out fun among our colleagues and counterparts here in Phnom Penh. Our friends from the US, UK, Australia, and Singapore participated. If it weren’t Ramadan, our colleagues from Indonesia and Brunei may have also joined.
Our hosts, the Americans, were kind enough to sponsor the entire bowling alley as well as the dozens and dozens of beer and pizza. They also provided prizes for the highest individual total scorer, the lowest individual total scorer and of course, the winning team.
Still, I am proud to say that at least in this friendly bowling tournament, Team Philippines beat all the superpowers… hehehe!
The other teams were quite amazed because the boys in our office really bowl well and we had an overwhelming lead – about 400 points from the second placer (see this post on how they won the Filipino community bowling tournament). Honey also bagged the individual top scorer award with a total of 500 in 3 games. The others were all yelling, “No way!” when the emcee announced his score. Well, they should just be grateful I didn’t join or Team Philippines would’ve bagged all the prizes for I was sure to win lowest individual scorer.

Hahaha! Ang galing galing nyo naman! That’s showing them who rulles the bowling alleys!! Ayus yung picture nyo sa huli ah
Naku! Di ko alam na may kasaling celebrities sa tournament, hehe.
BTW, I am surprised that there is a ten-pin bowling alley in Phnom Penh, at mukhang first class pa, ha?
ey congrats!
lolz kung me prize na ganyan sa sasalihan kong tournament baka sakaling mapanalunan ko yang lowest individual scorer nyahahaha! sa pc lang ako nakaka 100-up
Congrats! But that was expected from you guys!
FerdzFer, hehehe… kahit sa bowling man lang…
Snglguy, actually, the bowling alley was breaking down every minute we were there. Pins were falling down by themselves, the breaker was going down just as someone threw the ball… it was quite funny.
Carlotta, makikipaglaban ka pa sa’kin sa lowest score.
Sidney, I was quite surprised really… I was expecting that there were some pretty good bowlers from the other teams.
miss bowling. i used to average 125 back then…
now i need to practice more…
magastos lang yan saka masakit sa kamay
Haha. At least, sikat ang Pinas. It seems Pinoys are really god at bowling, no? To bad it isn’t considered an Olympics sport. I miss bowling tuloy.
Ang galing naman!
Congrats
Tutubi, yes, it is kind of expensive. I’m not sure… but it could be cheaper here in Cambodia.
Abaniko, yup! We really showed ‘em!
I remember there was a time when it was an exhibition sport in the Olympics. I wonder what happened with that.
hehehe..International naman di ba? Galing talaga ng Pinoy! Congrats! Are you hiding from us that your Honey is Paeng’s brother?
I love Bowling. And for now it is the only sport that I love that I can actually be involved in. I cannot run so much now so football is out. I get pretty tired more so basketball is also crossed from the equation. But Bowling? Now that’s another story. We had a team here of pinoys ourselves and has been into amateur competitions too.
Thanks Pining. We had a lot of fun during the tournament.
Momoftwo, hindi naman… he really is Paeng! Hrhrhr!
Rey, the bowling lanes in Singapore must be really nice and high-tech. I know that Singaporeans could be really good too.
That’s true… football and basketball is not that viable anymore when you reach a certain age.
BRAVO ! Yan ang galing ng Pilipino
! Blow out !!!
You’d be surprised how good Pinoys are with bowling. In every nook and cranny of the world when events like these are held, the Pinoy somehow shows up much like the game of billiards
In the Middle East Pinoy bowlers are a powerhouse
Haze, hehehe… pizza lang nga, masaya na kami.
BW, yeah… and they’re not only good players, they’re also real genuine fans. Whenever we watch international bowling or billiard tournaments, there are always appreciative Filipinos in the audience.
