Ladies Magazine
Eat your heart out Imelda Marcos, Kris Aquino (who are the socialites in the Philippines? I don’t even know) for I, too am now in the pages of a glossy magazine, albeit a Cambodian glossy magazine. So this is the Cambodian version of a ladies’ glossy magazine such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan. The name of the magazine? Well… Ladies Magazine of course.
That’s right… without the apostrophe (’). This is the cover. Isn’t this Cambodian actress on the cover of Ladies Magazine pretty?
So this girl (moi) who used to hang out in the sari-sari store and who used to walk in the streets of Kamuning in shorts and Tretorns (see this post) went to Cambodia and found herself rubbing elbows with grand ladies and mesdames and attending hi-teas, coffee mornings, charities, and others (though as I mentioned here, this is the part of the job I’m not really into). Inevitably, one of those events (coffee morning in the Indonesian Madame’s residence) got featured in the social section of the Ladies Magazine. I won’t tell you which one I am there. All I can say is that you’ll know who the Filipino ladies are: they’re the ones who are not in traditional costumes and are wearing western outfits.
Hahaha… all the girls in our office are here and because we’re all so jologs back home, we really got a kick out of this.

Thanks momoftwo… loved those Tretorns… I used to wear them everyday until they self-destructed.
Snglguy, if that happens, I hope it’s because of my blog and not because of hi-tea with grand mesdames.

Wow this is good, now you are a celebrity in a foreign country. Even Martin Nievera is trying hard so much for that he..he..
It is one of my dream you know, to be in a glossy magazine. But the dream remains a dream as of now…
Wow! You made it in the glossy magazine. Social nga ang dating.
Natatawa ako sa family mo (Biyatch ?). Ibinubuko talaga kung sino ka sa picture.
Nakakahiya, but I have no idea what Tretorns are.

Major Tom, hahaha… you’re so funny. Oo nga, talo ko si Martin Nievera.
And it’s your dream to be in a glossy magazine? Naku, you come here… it wouldn’t be too difficult. Even I did it.
Niceheart, Tretorns is a brand of tennis shoes which used to be the fashion among teen-agers in the 1980s. They’re very comfortable and I do wish that they come back in vogue again.
Biyatch is not family. She’s a
Haha… peace Biyatch!
formerfriend.Haze, Cambodian is very difficult… more than 50 vowels and the pronunciation is impossible. I’m not very good at all, especially I work with Filipinos with whom I speak Tagalog with and foreigners with whom I speak English with. All the locals who work in our office are also fluent in English. So I don’t have enough practice. I only know enough to bargain when I shop in the market.
Soksabay is hello and awkoon is thank you. I don’t know mahal kita though.
Wow! Magazine Exposure on a very social event. Baka pag uwi mo dito asa local glossies ka na rin.
When I first glanced at your post akala ko sasabihin mo ikaw yung nasa cover
